A Plan For Everyone

how it starts

Parents will take part in a family assessment so they can share their child's educational story. Your child will be exposed to a specialized curriculum that is aligned to Georgia Standards of Excellence Common Core and also embeds their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals. Our focus is to allow students the opportunity to master their goals and embrace the power of "yet." We will build their "I can't do that yet" brain muscles and lead them to the mindset of using the power of "I can." Too often we are faced with students who fall into the "I can't" world. DWIA will build self-confidence and growth mindset to allow opportunities of success. We will target the students who require support through an IEP and target goal mastery. Also, we will bridge the gap and focus on foundational concepts to achieve success. This will be an opportunity to give your child the sense of inclusiveness, joy, and goal achievement.

The Vision and the Visionary

In Loving Memory of our Beloved Husband, Father, and Teacher, Sheldon G. Whiteman.
Deputy Sheldon G. Whiteman Inclusive Academy was inspired by my husband, Sheldon Whiteman, who went to Glory in the line of duty, on January 23, 2020. Deputy Whiteman's passion was serving people and our community. His vision allows his legacy to live on by serving and providing peace, love, and inspiration to our community. My husband and I are blessed with 3 boys. Our eldest is our beloved with special needs, whom we learned to love, be patient, and support. Together, we built a strong tower for him and our other two boys. As a teacher in the special education classroom, my husband supported my ministry, and his vision was for us to share our knowledge, experience, and love to others in our community. Our academy is in honor of his strength, trust, and love for God and people and fulfilling the vision for our family and the community. As a parent with a child with special needs, his vision was to impact children's lives by providing healing through education. He believed that all things are possible through Christ and that all children can learn with the belief and faith of Christ's ambassadors serving them. He served the community with the love of the Lord. DWIA continues his passion and ministry in serving God and our community.

My name is Alisa-Ann Whiteman. I am the widow of Deputy Sheldon Whiteman. I am the owner and founder of Deputy Whiteman's Inclusive Academy, and the mother to three incredible boys. I am thankful for God for blessing me in the ministry of teaching children with individual needs. I served in the United States Army for eight years in the office of Human Resources. On my retirement from the Army in 2013, I graduated with a dual master's degree in Human Resources Management and Management and Leadership. Then, the Lord ordered my steps to obtain a master's degree in Special Education, and I graduated in 2015. I began my ministry as a co-teacher in the general education classroom with resource supports. Thereafter, my God ordered my steps to serve in the self-contained Special Education classroom to provide specially designed instruction aligned with their individual educational plan. I was presented with the Teacher of the Year Award at McClelland Elementary School and also presented with the Teacher of the Year award for the District of Long County Schools in Georgia. I am currently enrolled to start my Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology. I look forward to guiding you and your children toward the path of growth and success at our academy.
